CODEDU: Bringing Arduino and Coding into the Classroom

Education is changing rapidly, and the skills of the future require new ways of learning. Through the European CODEDU project, we are working to bring coding and Arduino closer to students and teachers by using modern, interactive, and hands-on teaching methods.

What is CODEDU?

CODEDU is an Erasmus+ project that helps schools and educators integrate coding into their classrooms using tools like Arduino and innovative learning methodologies.

Through the project, we are developing:

  • Training materials for teachers
  • An interactive Arduino simulator platform
  • An AI learning assistant
  • A complete educational toolkit

Our goal is to help students learn programming, logical thinking, and creativity, even without prior technical knowledge.

Arduino in Education

Arduino is a small microcontroller board that allows students to create electronic projects such as:

  • Smart lights
  • Alarm systems
  • Sensor-based devices
  • Small robots

With CODEDU, students do not need expensive equipment. We created an Arduino Simulator, where they can design and test circuits digitally in a safe and engaging environment.

The platform includes educational scenarios such as:

Learning Through Play

  • Smart Night Light
  • Pedestrian Crossing System
  • Weather Station
  • Door Alarm
  • Safe Box Lock

Students connect virtual sensors, LEDs, and components using drag-and-drop tools and see immediate results. This makes learning coding and electronics intuitive and fun.

AI Learning Assistant

The CODEDU platform also includes an AI assistant that:

  • Explains circuits and concepts
  • Helps students correct mistakes
  • Suggests project ideas
  • Supports multiple languages

This makes learning more personalized and accessible for everyone.

Toolkit for Teachers

To support educators, we are developing a complete toolkit that includes:

  • Lesson plans
  • Step-by-step guides
  • Teaching scenarios
  • Tutorials
  • Best practices

Even teachers without prior coding experience can confidently introduce Arduino into their classes.

Why CODEDU Matters

Through CODEDU:

  • Students develop STEM skills
  • Creativity and problem-solving improve
  • Collaboration is encouraged
  • Learners prepare for future careers

Coding is not just about programming — it is about learning how to think.
